Dr. Fernando

Aguilera Zárate

Dr. Fernando Aguilera studied medicine at the UABC Mexicali. Later, he made his specialty and subspecialty studies at the Hospital to Prevent Blindness in Mexico (APEC), later he made his second subspecialty in Santa Maria California USA. Dr. Aguilera has been performing Refractive Surgery since 1988 and has extensive experience in Lasik, PRK, QR and QA surgery. He was one of the first surgeons to perform Excimer Laser Surgery in 1995 and since then he has performed many surgical procedures with Laser for Myopia, Hyperopia and Astigmatism. He is an innovator in Cataract Surgery and he has always used the most advanced technology for the treatment of this disease. He has been recognized internationally as a pioneer in the use of Torsional Ultrasound technology for the removal of cataracts, which makes this surgery safer than that used conventionally in other places. He has been a professor of countless National and International courses and recipient of the award for the best research work by the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (Philadelphia, USA). Dr. Aguilera takes an active part in the preoperative and postoperative evaluation of patients, being the Principal Surgeon of the Eye Institute.
