I am Dra. Aurora Ruiz Herrera DDS and I turned a frustratingly painful childhood experience into a lifetime commitment. As a child, I watched helplessly as my mother suffered with toothache pain. She had gone to a dentist, but she was told that it could not be extracted. Because of bad information and the lack of ethics, she suffered with the pain for several years. That experience is how I decided my career path, and as a dental surgeon, I could help others so that they do not have to endure the same pain my mother endured. With my series of degrees, specialties, and diplomas, I have committed my life to helping my patients with any issues they may have.

 

I was born in Rio Bravo, but I grew up in Nuevo Progreso. I am one of the few dentists that grew up in this area. I graduated from Universidad Valle del Bravo in Reynosa in 2010. Although I opened my office here in Nuevo Progreso 5 years ago, I have been a dentist in Nuevo Progreso for 10 years.

 

I offer a comprehensive clinic where I utilize endodontics for tooth pain, dental prosthetics for bridges, orthodontics for braces, and I offer both permanent or removable dentures and partials that are held in place by connecting to teeth or implants. I also perform root canals, third molar surgeries, implants, and bone grafts as needed.

 

I completed my specialty for Oral Implantology and Osseointegration Regeneration endorsed by Universidad National Autonoma de México UNAM in 2016 and completed my specialty for Advanced Prosthodontics in 2018. I also completed a specialty course in Temporomandibular disorder in 2018 for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of temporomandibular (TMJ) or jaw and orofacial pain. Furthermore, I am currently finishing a course for my Orthodontics specialty. I now offer an alternative to general anesthesia- Conscience Sedation with Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen- which is proven to be a safe and effective method that works great for children, disabled adults, and apprehensive patients.

 

Digital Smile Designs is a program that I am working with to create facially driven smile designs that account for personality, facial flow, and treatment goals. Using the power of digital dentistry, we can visualize through digital smile simulations and propose a treatment plan that can deliver predictable results.

 

I am a perfectionist and I take special care of every patient by doing thorough examinations of them. This way, I can identify any problem areas and design a plan that works with each patient’s schedule. My patients trust that I can complete the task with my experience, techniques, and up-to-date technology.

 

It’s hard to express the feeling of satisfaction I get when I transform a smile, restore the normal function of chewing food, or take away the pain for my patients. Changing my patients for the better is a wonderfully rewarding feeling. To be able to give you the confidence to smile without hiding, or to eat a healthy meal and chew it properly, leaves me with ultimate satisfaction and when I go home to my family, I know that I did my job well and I can be proud.
